cotton and wool and acrylic—oh my!

So I’m furiously knitting these mittens for my brother, only to realize that there’s an error in my pattern. He comes for Christmas and I measure the one I’ve finished on him anyway, and I start over with a new pattern and such.

But now I’ve lost my yarn.

and my brains, too, probably.

anyway.

I’m searching my room (and closet) frantically trying to find the yarn that I got. but I’m having no luck. So today while I’m out I’m going to get a new ball. You always need more yarn, right? When I find the other stuff I’ll make a scarf or a hat out of it. Or something.

Maybe when I find the other yarn I’ll make a pair of mittens for this one biker girl that I know who isn’t afraid of riding in 25-degree weather, but doesn’t have mittens with no holes in them…(coughmecough).

So. I’m trying to decide what kind of yarn to get for the new ones. Cotton breathes nicely, which is good in NC. Wool is warm. but really it is the south. Does it need to be super toasty? And my acrylic blends are DURABLE beyond imagining. But they’re not as soft.

What should I use?
